Before there was television or video games, how do you think children stay entertained? What did they do with their time and what was their life like? Do you think we are better off today or that children of the past were the lucky ones?

I think they were entertained my studying school, and playing with friends and family. I think Kids back then studying more and tried harder than we do. We now a days are ussualy on the computers, playing video games, on the phone, and everything else. Not that I am saying thats stuff is bad, but thats why i think they are better of in ONE way. Also I don't think they were better off because we learn from doing other things like going on the computer. We can go to google and stuff to learn things. Also if we didn't have technolegy we couldn't do this blog thning. Or listen to music on the radio. Also we couldn't watch Tv and listen to the news. Thats how i feel about technology these days.
think the boys played many games outside. The girls might have stayed inside playing with dolls or sewing. The children also probably helped with jobs. They had a hard life.
The children did a lot more work to help their parents because they did not have as much
Technology as we do today. I think back then was better because family got to spend more time together. They did not have electronics to distract kids. They probably had cleaner air to because they had no cars. They did not have a lot of tec. But they could spend more time together.
I think both time periods have advantages and disadvantages. The families had to work very hard for their clothes, food and home. The children did alot of chores. Which would come before homework.
Some of them didn't even finish grade school, or go to high school. Not even college. I think the families were closer because, they had to depend on each other, and work together like a team. But today families don't spend enough time together because, they are to busy.
Today we have an advantage in medical and education also modern convieniences. Now we don't really pay attention to what people had to do back then. I hope that everybody appreciates what we have today.
I think that the kids back then had the advantage because the families where closer than now. I also think that they had the advantage because they where also alot healthier than us. Back then there was also alot less evil in the world then now. They entertaind them selfs by reading books and playing with their family and friends. They also ate alot better than us. They would eat lots of healthy foods and they would then go play or work. That is why I think that they had it better than us. Oh yeah their family would also not bicker.

i think that they were entertaned by playing outside and going to school. they were also probably hard at work with there chores. i also think that they did a lot more chores than we do today. i think the boys would mostly help with the outside work, and the girls stayed inside and played with there dolls and helped mostly with the inside work. i also think that it would take a long time to walk to school. some of the children might have even had to walk three or four miles. i am very glad that we have cars today. i also do not know how some people could survive without T.V. or the computor!!!!!!!!! i am so glad we have modern technoiogy and think that sometimes we can learn a lot from it. that is what i think about the modern technology that we have today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like Jesse said, both time periods have advantages. I think the children had it better off back then because they didn't have electricity, so they couldn't ruin their eyesight with television and video games. I think they played many games, studied for school,and worked with their parents. They had more fun, and got a lot stronger. They probably ate healthier, grew tons of veggies and fuit, and butchered steer. These things would help you stay away from illnesses. But today you can help prevent diseases, but back then, when you got a sickness, you were pretty much dead. Today you can also have the technology to use in wars, which gives you an advantage.
Oh yeah, one more thing. Today we use technology to catch most wanted criminals, and if you didn't have technology, we would never be able to do that.
I say that back than they were great. They may of had to do stuff that was really hard but i think it brought out the best in them. Meaning every time something good happend they did not take it for granted. Nowadays video games are cool but it seems that Entertainment is taking over the world nowadays. So back than the people had their own means of etertainment and it wasn't that important to them as it is today. Although most of the time TV and stuff pays off it it's a tornado warning or something but otherwise... Anyway i think etertainment is a golden calf (a work sheet from Miss Mente. I think that in some ways we are really fortunate to have technology, but we could probably live with out it. When there wasn’t technology, the children had to help out a lot more because the technology we have now that cleans our cloths and dishes ECT. They didn’t have so they had to do it all by them selves. They also played with each other, and hand made dolls and toys. I like having technology but it gets us way side tracked from the important things around us. The good things about having technology is that we don’t have to hand wash our cloths and all 0ur dishes, most of us have a washer and dryer and a dish washer. It is also a lot easier to get to and from places with a car to drive us. TV isn’t all that great especially when you don’t have cable, but it is also a good way to relax at night after a long day before. I like having technology but we could live with out it.
I think that they were better off with out video games. Because some games are not sutable for some kids. then it teachs them the wrong message. Back then they listened to their parents better because parents were stricter. Tv is worse but know we have parental blocks to block what kids should not watch. Back then they did not have tv so that kind of passes that idea. But still we have alot more tech then we had back then like medicine. People were dieing back then because they did not have medicine. That is what I have to say about tech . Some ways I think it is good and then there are some ways I think is the worst thing in in the world.

I think that they were intertained by school,playing inside or outside.i think both are better off.They are because they dont have the distraction of technology.Like televion,video games(PS2,game cube),computer,phone.They have to do so muchand we have to do so little.We are better off because we have the running water,just think they didnt have running water in there houses.we have phones to get messages quicker.yet the phones still are a distraction.We have lights so we can see when it's night time.We also have heat when it's cold and air conditioning for when it's hot.
I think they were working or doing chores most of the time, but if they had free time they might play marbles, or outdoor games. At night they might listen to music because lots of people knew how to play an instrument. They lived a good life, but it was also very hard working so much and with no electricity it was harder to cook, and do normal activities that we do today. With no cars it was also harder because every time you wanted to go somewhere you would have to hitch the team.
I think we are very lucky to be living in a world with great technology, but I also think that the children long ago were very lucky to experence the good times as they knew them.
hi what i think about technoligy is that it can help us in many ways and not help us in many ways for 1 thing we can get lazy and watch t.v. all day.We also may play v games all day.We would go outside more if all we had were sticks and a hoop .We may also do more chores around the house.We may also play that game were you throw a hoo[ to eachpther and they catch it ect.But im still on tchs side.

I think people back then, while
stronger than we usally are now, were deprived of all health and travel AND entertainment benefits. I think that they had a superior imagination than ours, unless we use it often in games like the interplanetary space exploration game and dungeons and dragons. They also were not able to travel anywhere in the world within days like we are able to now. Another thing they were deprived of was plentiful literature, readily available to the public like it is now. I think they had to resort too making plays and...dare I say it .... WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not that I think that's bad, but, now we can simply buy a book or go on the net to entertain ourselves, so I think we are blessed to live in the age of technology.
They would do chores , plant , work out in the fields , weave thread together and make clothes , help mom and dad wash clothes , they play a game called grace , they also play any other outdoor games , they did all kinds of things that they could be occupied with , they did corn grinning , they played games , they built more house wear , they went to school , they did house repairing , they spent time at night reading , they spent alot of time with their family. Technology today has caused kids today to spend less time outdoors and with their parents.
I really don't know how those people went through life with out having technology! Well I guess you could study your homework a lot. At least you could spend more time with your parents. How would those people know what time it is???
To get around you had to walk every where if you were a kid. Then you would have to get up super early to walk two miles to school. Then you had to walk two miles back home. I think that would have taken those people at least three hours round trip. Then when you are home you probably had to do all of your chores, and you wouldn't even get paid! Then it is probably time for dinner, so you have to wash up eat dinner. Then when you are done you will have to do your homework and go to bed.
Now our agenda is wake up at six to six-thirty, take a shower, eat, get to school from a VEHICLE. Then get home by a VEHICLE, do homework on the COMPUTER, eat dinner that was cooked in an OVEN or on a STOVE or in the MICURAVE. Then go to bed. I think that now a days technology is much better than back then.
I think there lives were very stressful. Without t.v. i bet they would be lost having to listen to the radio to find the forcast/news. They couldent play video games so they had to go outside all the time. If I had to do that every day Id go very crazy. My mom told me storys of when they could dig tunels in the snow without the tunel falling in on them. There also was an ice storm and my mom and my unle Tom went ice skating on the road when it was very frozen. Im am so glad that now-a-days we have technology. If I had the choise to live in the past or now I would choose now. I would have choosen now becouse Im pretty much lost in my own little world without t.v. or video games.
If we didnt have t.v. or video games I probebly would go out sledding and wish that it was winter all year long. that is how it would be for me.

I think that they used alot of stuff to entertain them. Some stuff would be like playing with their friend by there house. Like the Mayan and Incas they played this basketball like game and it was called pok-a-tok I think. In that game they could only use their elbows, knees, and stuff like that. They couldn't use their hands. Sometimes if you cheated or if you lost you would die. So I think that they could entertain themsleves but playing with their friends close by and like going fishing or stuff like that. Another thing they might do is study their culture and see what stuff they can get into. They might also help their mom in the house or help their dad outside in the yard.
I think kids back then played with small action figures and played outside. They probably made a lot of their toys or played with things from their house. They also could make things by widling wood, or playing with rope. I think they played more with their friends at school because their houses were so far apart. I think we are better off now because of technolgy and TV. There is much more to do now than in the past. We can get to places faster with cars and houses are closer so playing with friends is easier. I wouldn't want to live in the past because it just seems like a harder life for everyone.
I think people back then played card games like Solitare and War and lots of board games. I think the homework kept them busy some of the time and they also had a lot of chores to do. I think they visited their family a lot and did a lot of reading. Without technology, we wouldn't have computers or the internet. They probably had to write letters instead of using e-mail and the phone to talk to each other. Life was probably better back then. It was less stressful with fewer gadgets. That is what I think about the past's and present's teconology.
I think they did many things like working .I think most of their timewas spent working. Also school and friends. If your friends lived close then you would see them more often,but if you had brothers and sisters then that would be lik your friends.
Now a days we have things like computers,TV/and viedo games. We get less excercise than they did.But I still think we have it better because we have the computer for some things like google and other places like that. and we don't really need viedo games, but I guuess there fun to paly if you have free time. Also TV sometimes you need if you have to watch something for school.But over all you really don't need thoes things, enless you need it for imporant reasons like school.
i think that the kids in the past did not play as many games as we do today. for one thing we have alot more things than they did like, gamecube, computers, and other technology that they didn't have. they must of just played with paper dolls, made forts, and played pretend.i think we are the luckey people compaired to people in the past. if we were in the future we woud have even more things and ways to be lazy. but the people in the past also could be lucky because they could spend more time with family and not wasting their life away on vito games. i am not saying that vito games are bad but to many people do them to much.
Like Jesse and Jeff said I think there ar disadvateges and advantages for both. First off all the disadvantages. The people back then would have to walk 6 miles or even more just to get to school. While today we have school buses, and other cars and trains. And like Jeff said without technoledgy most of our most wanted crimanals wouldn't be caught. Sort of a advantege for people back then would be they would be more fit,because they had to do all those chores. While today we have machines that can plow fields and other stuff. These are my opinions
i think that Children probley did this:girls probley quilted beautiful quilts with there moms. or maybe they played with rag dolls that they got for there Birthdays from there moms. Boys probley played with sibs or helped there dad with work I went to olden time schools and girls played a game called "Grace." and boys played a game where you had to race someone while pushing a big hoop with a big stick i personaly think gace is more fun. 75.i think it is WAY WAY WAY ect. easer for us today. Because they had to do all those big jobs and all we have to do is clean our rooms and take out the trash and we think that is bad. And did you know if they one thing wrong like talk back to there parents they would get whipped with a belt!Omg! (100%mouth is my future screen name when i get The internet.)
IT IS BETTER TODAY BECAUSE THERE IS MORE TO DO BECIDES PLAY WITH DOLLS OR IMAGINE YOUR SOMETHING YOU NOT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I WOULD DO SOMTHING OUTSIDE OR JUST DO NOTHING LIKE I SOMTIMES DO TODAY OR READ. BUT THEY DID WORK AND MAKING STUFF FOR THEIR LIVES TO BE ABLE TO LIVE. THEY WOULD HAVE PLAYING TIMES TOO, BUT THE BOYS DIDN’T HAVE MUCH TO DO BUT THE GIRLS GOT TO PLAY DOLLS. ITS A LOT BETTER TODAY BECAUSE EVERYBODY HAS MORE TO DO AND DON’T GET BORED MOST OF THE TIME. SO I LIKE IT TODAY.
I think that kids would play sports,tag or anything they would play outside at recess. I think kids would actually we would be better off with out T.V. or eletronics. No people might think that is crazy but not me. Yes it is nice to have vido games, T.V. and other technology but the Mayan and Azteces could do so could we. Life would be diferent but we could mangage. People would not believe in such things if we did not have technology. Ofcourse we would have to make changes in our everyday living but we could do it.
I think that we would live better with and without technology because of this. With it we can have our ups because we can learn things at high speed (or at least that's what they say) and our downs are things like games. We can get addicted and loose our minds, but there is still nothings wrong because most of us don't loose our mind in the first place. Without we also have our ups and downs because we would have to put our noses in a book and learn the slow way and we would not be able to know about well technology. So that is my point tchnology is good the end!
I thick that they where entertained
by working in the shop with dad and weaving with mom. kids played with wheels that were holow and were just a ring. Then they push it with a wooden stick about 2 by 2 inches. Girls play with this ring tipe thing that flies in the air and they have to catch it with two slender wooden sticks and fling it back and forth. If you miss it our drop it your out. with the boys game they would have rases. The reason I know this is becuse we did it at old world wisconsin. I was the best at the boys game and I was prity good at the girls game.
They entertained themselves by reading, playing with their friends, and talking with their families. Back then they didn't always have school if their parents needed help on the farm, but I would rather go to school than work all day. Life back then was less stressful than life today though. Their life was probably pretty simple. They were probably closer to their families than kids today because they had to play games with them instead of watching TV. I think we are better off because we have cars and phones and video games, but they didn't have as much stress as us which would make life easier.
