Showing our Thankfulness

This blog includes a small assignment, so you may want to get started right away! Thanksgiving is only 6 days away and what a better time to show your parents how thankful you are for them!

Step 1: Do something that will serve your parents. This will show them your thankful love in action. Ideas include, but are not limited to: doing the dishes, volunteering to fold the laundry, straightening up the shoe closet, taking out the trash, raking the last few stray leaves, writing them a letter or poem to say how grateful you are to have them as parents, etc.....

Step 2: Write about the experience. What did you do to help out? What was the reaction of your parents or the person you helped? How did you feel afterwards?

Don't forget to make your response at least 100 words.

I gave my parents a poem and it read:
Thanks for all you’ve done for me
As you can see I’m filled with glee
You get me every thing I need
You make sure I’m overseed*
Thanks for all you’ve done for me
You are kind and loving
Your love is always showing
Even when it’s snowing!
You are sweet and nice
I’m glad you don’t have lice!
Thanks for all you’ve done for me
You really truly love me!

* Mom said that this isn’t a real word AFTER I wrote the poem.
I felt very good when I gave it to my mom so she could read it aloud.
Mom said she was glad she didn’t have lice also.

I wrote my Mom and Dad a “thank you” letter. I told them in my letter how much I love them and how much I appreciate all they do for me. I sometimes get bad about stuff or upset but I still love my parents very much. My Mom and Dad thought the letter was just wonderful and thought it was a very special to them. I know I can’t say everything that they do for me. So wrote a letter and shorten it up to tell them that I care so much about them. I really do love my parents.

Today I did some extra work around the house. I cleaned out the room where it seems like there is always at least one person in the room. It is always very messy. First I had to pick up all of the stuffed animals. That took a while. Then I got to pick up all of the pictures that my sister has drawn( which seem to be endless). She draws so much that it’s getting harder to see if the carpet is blue or pink( although it’s really blue). I already do chores but doing extra chores make me feel good about myself.

I helped with feeding my dogs, Elmer, and Shooter, and I also helped fold the laundry. My mom’s reaction was that she loved it and she thought I was a big help. Now my dad didn’t have a reaction, why you ask, because he wasn’t here all weekend, (He is out hunting with my older sister, Bree.) I felt pretty good, for doing what I did. I think that my parents do a lot of things around the house, and I think that I could pitch in and try to help more often, even though I still have sports and school work.

When my dad was gone to Nebraska for a meeting .I help out by feeding my dog Kappi, and my two rabbit’s Thumper and clover. The funny thing was that when I opened Thumper’s cage I lifted the flap and Thumper pushed on the door and it swung open and I thought he was about to jump and run away luckily, he didn’t.
My parents where so happy and proud of me so, I got five $$$$$.
I was so excited that I did a good cause so my pets would not starve!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I WILL HELP WITH CHORES EVERY DAY IF I HAVE TO!!!!!!!!!

I got up early today and shoveled the snow before leaving for school this way my mom didn’t have to try and do it before she left for work. I was happy to do it, not only because I love snow, but I knew it would really help her out. She was really happy because this gave her time to get the garbage ready for today. I really like doing things like this because this gives my mom a break. When I do things for my mom, she is in a better mood all day long and it is better for me too.

What I’ve been doing for my Parents is: I’ve been taking out the trash so they don’t get cold. I do my own laundry and my sisters so it takes some time off of what they do. Because they go to my sporting events and give me the recourses I need. I also rake leaves because my dad’s leg hurts. Sometimes I’ll carry in the groceries for them if my mom doesn’t want to. And if there sad I cheer them up by being funny or happy. My mom and my sister were sick on Friday - Monday from my aunt and my cousin. So I took care of them on Monday until my Dad got home.

What nice thing I did for my mom was help her clean the house for my cousins. Every time I finished cleaning one thing, I came back to my mom and asked if she needed me to clean anything else. I didn’t complain at all when I was cleaning. This lasted about 1 and ½ hours, but we got it done. My mom was very thankful for what I did with her. I felt happy about it, but I did hurt myself by banging my head when sweeping the floor. I also hurt my back and bottom when I was falling down the stairs while dusting. Now I knew what my mom has to do every day while cleaning the house (Actually, she does more than I did, but I got a little taste of it). That is what I did for my mom on Thanksgiving.

I helped out with cleaning by helping my mom clean some of our house. My mom was very thankful for me helping. I helped by dusting. I also helped get the dinner table set. Then I helped clear the table. My parents were very thankful for what I did! I did another thing. I folded some laundry. Then I told them how much I appreciate everything they do for me and without them the house would be a disaster! So I helped my parents out a lot by doing everything I did for them. I know they appreciated everything I did!

What I did was clean up all the shoes left by my sister. My mom was vey thankful because Lily leaves her shoes everywhere. One reason she was thankful was because she was able to help Lily with her homework. I also helped my dad unpack when we got home from our cabin. He was very thankful because he did not have to do it by himself. He was also thankful he did not have to tell me to do it. A reason I was happy I helped my mom was because it made me feel good and it made her in a better mood. A few reasons I liked helping my dad was because he did not complain about me not helping him and he said he would take me there again.

My mom was making oriental Ramen Noodle salad and all of a sudden she screamed OUCH! My mom’s back was hurting. I told her that she should rest then mom said I just have to get my dinner. I said go lay down and rest and I’ll bring it to you. I brought her the oriental ramen noodle salad then she said ‘oh honey that is so sweet. Thank you so much.’ I felt glad that my mom was resting and that she felt better. She takes care of me so I felt good I returned the favor. I am thankful for my family.

The chior I did for my parents is the dishes. When I did the dushes I felt like I was helping out and that made me feel good. And when I did it though I know i did it, and when the dishes were done my parent wouldn't have to do it. When I was done My parents were happy and proud of me that made me feel good. Maybe I should do it more often for my parents that would be nice. And tey'll be hppy. Well happy late Thanksgiving to everyone got to go.

I showed my parents how thankful I was by making them a card that let them know how thankful I really am that God has blessed me with such amazing parents. My dad gave me a hug and said that he loved it and was thankful for me too and my mom said that first of all I get brownie points for making a card. Then she said that it was beautiful and that she loved it and that she was very thankful for me too. When I made the card it made me feel really good but when I gave it to them it made me feel even better like I was giving back to them for all they do for me every day.

One of the nice things that I did to help out my parents was, help them clean up for thanksgiving. Whenever one of them wanted me to do something I didn’t complain, I just did as I was told. I helped my dad with setting the table, I helped clean and polish all the tables. And last but not least I helped eat the thanksgiving dinner! When I did all this for my parents it made me feel glad that I helped out and made a really big job feel like a very small one. As for my parents they felt the same way that I did.

This Thanksgiving day has come and gone, and I shared it with my sister and my Mom. My sister & I helped Mom decorate our house for Christmas, it has become a tradition to do this task on Thanksgiving Day and Mom found me to be a big help this year which makes her VERY happy to have help with this job. My sister made the Thanksgiving meal and I cleared the table, put away all the leftover food, and did the dishes, which mad Mom really happy because then she could get other things done while I played in the dish water! I used my imagination to make the job a little more exciting. I felt pretty good that I could do this for my Mom, except, now she may want me to do it more often! OH no, what have I done!

The other day while my mom was gone grocery shopping I helped her out by sweeping the kitchen floor and I vaccumed the livingroom and the family room without being asked. When my mom came home she was very surprised because I was only supposed to clean my room.I really wanted to help my mom because I knew she had a lot of work to do for Thanksgiving. I felt really happy to do something nice for my mom. I know she really appreciated it because she was so happy and surprised that I would do something without her asking me to.

To show my appreciation and how thankful I am for all that my parents have done for me when my mom asked me to load the dishes instead of running away or pretending I didnt hear her I did it and I could tell that my mom liked that.

I served my parents by making the Apple Pie while they were busy. Making the pie was fun. My mom had to make Apple Pie and cut dad’s hair before we could go to our cousins. I said I would make the pie so we could get to cousins sooner. It was fun to get it cousins early. Later when we ate desert people said that the pie that I made was very good (I forgot to try the pie)! I felt good because I helped get us there sooner and I made a good pie. My mom was glad that I made the pie because it was one less thing to do.

This past week for Thanksgiving I wrote my mom a letter so she could feel better. After I gave my mom the letter she felt much better as was so thankful for the letter. After I gave her the letter I asked her if she wanted to watch a movie with me. She likes when I want to do things with her because I dont always so much anymore. I also have been taking out the garbage pretty much every day. I do that too so I can help her out becuase she is having a baby and can't be carrying stuff like that all the time. And I like to do this stuff because it makes me feel good and happy.
