Wise Words

Think of a famous quote, saying, adverstising slogan or Bible passage that is meaningful to you. Tell what it is and why you feel it is important. Here are some examples:

"Let your light shine among men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" -Matthew 5:16

Just Do It! -Nike

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. -James Barrie

You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men. -Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you -Every parent alive :0)

6th graders and other readers:

It is not your duty to report other students' grammar and spelling mistakes. Please refrain from making comments like those made in the past. I have deleted the previous comments made. Just worry about yourself and your own spelling and grammar.

I don't know if this would really be "wise words" but I think it's an important phrase. My favorite phrase is "I love you". That is my favorite phrase because if your parents or siblings never said that they loved you I don't think you'd feel very special or even that your loved. When ever my parents say that they love me I feel warm inside and that I know that they care about me. I also like the bible passage "Love your Enemies" because even if somebody isn't your friend you should still be kind to them and do favors or nice things to them once in a while.

Live long and Prosper is more of a catch phrase for the vulcan race then a wise word, but the bible verse that's my computer desktop background is...

In the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

-Psalm 27:5

I like it a lot and it's a good verse, the wallpaper for it is located in one of the posts on my blog (it's a long way to scroll down).

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
That is one of my favorite verses, because it tells us that we are very sinful, and we deserve nothing. We act so selfish and self-centered sometimes, but our God is a loving god. He came down as a man to tell us of his word and die on a cross, so that later, he can give us a second chance. We can choose whether to believe or not to believe. I’m choosing to believe so that I can go to heaven someday and live in a perfect world. I think that verse is very important and helpful, especially when I am feeling lonesome. I can always know that God loves me no matter what.

John 3:16

This is one of my favorite verses because God loved us so much he still gives us away to live in his kingdom. Our god gave his only son, hmmm it kind of makes me think, and he gave his only son to save us and we a kind of iffy on giving him 10% of what he gives to us. We should give grace sly because you won’t spend your whole life on earth. It also gives me faith to believe that someday all the believers will go to heaven and live eternally with him someday, whether it’s the end of the world or you just died.

Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me. Psalm 50:15. It means a lot to me because sometimes I have times in life where I am stuck and don’t know what to do. I ask God for help and I tell him I believe. I also sometimes don’t know when or why something happens and I don’t know when it is going to happen. It might be a good idea to thank, praise or ask God for help when your lonely or sad. I am sometimes sad when someone dies or gets really sick and needs help. I don’t know about you but I hope you choose to ask God for help when your in need because it sure has helped me.

An important quote in my life is “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16. This is important to me because it tells me that if I believe in God and believe that Jesus died on the cross I will be saved and I will be given eternal life. This doesn’t just apply to me but to everyone who believes. It is important to know that God loved us and sent his son to suffer and die so that all sins are forgiven.

...My "Wise Words" are Never Say Die! Have you ever heard these words? Well these famous words where spoken by Yogi Berra. Yogi Berra was the New York Yankees catcher in the early 1900's but thats not the point. I like this phrase because it says never give up and keep at it. Even when all hope seems to be lost keep going. These words encourage me to go on with my life and keep at something that I really like but feel like I can't do. These words are so inspiring I hope that these wise words encourage you to keep at the thing you really love to do, what ever it is baseball, basketball, tennis, piano or other things just keep at it and you will prosper.

"Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace" means a lot to me because my sister, Corinn gave me this book mark that she made in desktop publishing and it said those words. I think the words are special because they say a lot in just one little sentence. It means that you need courage and you need to beleive in your self if you want to have and grant peace in life. Everyone knows that if we didn't have peace in this world we would constantly be at war and life would be just awfull. I enjoy hearing and reading those books everytime I hear someone say them or everytime I read my bookmark!

My favorite saying is from a song by Superchic[k], We live, we love, we forgive and never give up. ‘Cause the days we’ve been given are gifts from above and today we remember to live and to love.” I think it is a good saying because it reminds us all that we’re here to live, love, forgive and never give up. Plus, each day is really given from God as a gift, so we should always forgive and forget, live and love. Also, God forgives us, so we should forgive our friends and family. In the song, they give examples of different people with different problems, one is a mom who just lost her son in a car accident and a guy who has cancer and may die soon, meaning that we might die, or have a loved one die, so we always need to forgive and love each other because they may die or be seriously injured and dying and you may never get to tell them you’re sorry or forgive them.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly Colossians 3:16 This verse is important to be because it tells That if you belive in the word of God and you go to church, pray, and give thanks you will be richer than anyone. It also tells that you don't need lots and lots of money or the best clothes to be rich. You need faith and you need to show kindness to others. After you have done that you will get a great and everlasting award. That award is to be in HEAVEN someday! That is the greatest and richest award. That is why I think this verse is so influencing!

Just Do It is my favorite phrase. It is my favorite because it means just try it. For example what if you saw a open lane in a basketball game, but were scared because you thought you were not very good at basketball. Just do it. The outcome may end up good or bad, but at least you tried. It also goes for homework. If your not sure on a problem, just do it. Again it may come out bad or good but at least you tried instead of just leaving it not done. That brings me to another phrase 100% of the shots you do not take won't go in. I think this is kind of like my first one, but I just think that it means just take a chance.

My favorite saying is from the bible and it is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I like that verse because it tells you if you want to be treated in a certain way you should treat that same person the same way. Also if you want to be friends with someone then you should be nice to them and they will gradually come to like you and accept you for who you really are. I like that verse because a small amount of words can mean a great deal and that verse is one of those verses.

The "wise words" that mean the most to me comes from the bible it is "love your enemies. This verse means a lot to me because if you love your enemies they will love you back. It also says that if you are kind to others you do not now then they might be kind to you. This verse reminds me that you should be kind to others and you will make more friends. This is what I think that the verse "love your enemies" means. P.S. it also means that war is not the way to settle thing being kind is.

"Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."" This is because
A. this is my favorite poem
B. It's by my favorite poet
AB2. tied with dickenson and I am nobody
C. It's mostly true. Not the part with Lenore and all but Nevermore. Nevermore to many things. Nevermore will he see his Lenore again. Never more will you go outside until you do your homework, Nevermore will people be a care-free child. Seriously, Nevermore. But Luckily for us it isn't "nevermore." We have Evermore. Jesus Christ Died for us and now we will live Evermore through him amen.

I think that Acts 5:29 is a important verse. It says, “You must obey God rather than men.” It is important because, because you should obey and worship our own God rather than false gods. You should worship you own gods because, the bible says so and, it would be silly to pretend to worship a different god. Also you do not want to rely on your pastors, teachers, parents or anybody else to heal you or others, you should rely on God. You should always trust, believe, pray and love God. This verse also is telling us that God is always there for us even when a pastor, teacher, parent or other adult is not there for us.

I don't know if I have a favorite phrase but here is one of them "It doesn't matter if you win or lose as long as you had fun" I think it is important because a lot of people make such a fuss about winning or losing and I think it shouldn't matter. My parents always said do your best have fun it kind of grew on me and I didn't care if I won or lost. Now that doesn't mean that I don't care and I don't try it just means I don't make a big fuss about if we lost or if we won. I guess that is my favorite saying.

My phrase is do unto others as you would have done to you. This means to me that if you want to have a life worth living, you want to be kind to others and make their life worth living. It means that if you are good to others they will be good to you. It can help you stop and think if what you are doing is God pleasing. It makes me think, what would Jesus do. I can make better choices if I think about the phrase, do unto others as you would have done unto you.

“Whether you think you can or can't you are probably right”. I am not sure who originally quoted this phrase all I know is that Miss Miller said it to our class I thought it was a great phrase. Like that saying because it makes me feel positive about the choices I am making. Whenever I hear this quote it makes me feel real good. When I feel like I can's done something I probably won't be able to. If I feel positive and know that I can succeed the chances are those that I will succeed. This phrase helps me a lot during school. This phrase will definitely help me through some hard times when I think I can or can't do something.

NEVER GIVE UP

I like this saying because it always reminds me to keep trying not matter how hard it is. I use this in sports and at school. If at first I can't do it and I keep trying, I feel so good when I finally do it. It is like I won the battle. If I keep trying things that I can't do, this makes me a better person if I don't give up. If you only do things you are good at, you will never learn about different things. Once you try something new and you accomplish the task and you look back on it, it makes you really proud of what you did even if it was really hard.

My best saying is "May the Force be with you." because it sounds cool, and it's from my favorite movies. It makes me think of brave people like Yoda, Obi-Wan, Luke and Han. People think George Lucas had a religious meaning to his movies, so that you can believe in God. "May the Force be with you" could sound like "May God be with you." Star Wars has good vs. evil and this could be compared to God vs. Devil. I'll always like Star Wars and I like that you can compare it to God.

One of my favorites phrases is, Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. I think this is a really good phrase o keep in your head and it can really help you. I started learning this phrase from Mrs. Rennicke when she would be a substitute teacher for my class. When ever she would say it,it would always get stuck in my head. ment it leaves your tongue. I really like this phrase and I think that whoever made it up probably was late for a lot of things. I will always remember this phrase.

My favorite phase is when my parents say “good bye.” The reason that is my favorite phase is that they don’t bug you about chores for the next day or week. I like to see them and all, but “good bye” sort of means see you another time or day. If you’re not going to see someone ever again you would probably say something like “farewell” or “best wishes”. Another reason is, it sounds nice unlike go away or not say anything at all to the person that you will see another day. That is my favorite phase I like to be told if I will see someone another day.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not onyour own understanding. Proverbs 3:5. This is one of my favorite Bible passages. This week I really had to trust in the Lord that my grandma was going to be o.k. We found out that she has cervical cancer. We did aloat of praying and put our trust in the lord. Today we found out that she has stage one. Which is good news. She will have to have surgery and radation but she should be fine. More people should trust in the lord because he will not turn his back on you.

Jonah- Did you go upnorth with Austin!?

Well my favorite bible pass is, ummmm "Trust in God with all your heart" because, I think that anything you do, you have to trust in God to help you and watch over you. When you trust God you will feel safer and more secure you should feel special and know you trust God for what ever comes next in life for you. If you were in a hospital with lung cancer you need to trust in God to help you through it you need that comfort that God is there and that he will protect you it doesn’t mean you will always survive or always s win that soccer tournament it means, trust in God and you will be saved, and fight that cancer with Gods help.

“You make choices and you don’t look back,” is what Huaon in the movie Tokyo Drift said. I think that is one of the wisest things to live by. Why? You cannot change what you did but you can learn from it. It will keep you from making the same mistake over and over again if you did make a bad choice. Who is to say if a choice you make is a mistake. The result of a choice you make is a lesson learned, not a mistake. The more choices you make the more you learn from them. With age you become wiser and my moms thinks I’m pretty wise.

P.S. My mom wondered if all the choices I make on my multiple choice tests could be considered lessons learned rather then failures, mistakes, or wrong answers.

My favorite bible passage is if you brother sins against you go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. Matthew 18:15. This verse means that if someone does something to and you don’t like it that you should tell him that you didn’t like what he did go and talk to him about it and tell him how or why it hurt you instead of going around and telling other people what he did. I think this verse is important because it tells you that you should forgive someone right away and not hold it against them.

One of my favorite quotes is, "Better late than never". I like it because I had a late blog and I didn't turn it in until late. I didn't know I had one due. I like this quote because of lots of reasons. It is better to say you're sorry now than later. It is better to get to bed late than never geting to bed at all.It is better to eat late than never at all. It is better to make a 2 pointer basket than to never make any basket at all. Anyway, this is one of my favorite quotes.
