Make a Difference

You can make a huge difference in your surroundings if you are willing to work hard to make a change. Pick something that you would like to change at school and write a persuasive letter to whoever is in charge and tell the person the change you think should be made. Be positive and give suggestions for how the change could happen. Remember, this is not a chance to bash someone or something, but instead a chance to lobby for a change.

Examples of topics could include: students shouldn't have homework, more recess time, let students pick the classes they take instead of having to take all of the subjects, longer passing time between classes, etc....

Dear all of you very kind teachers,

It would be very kind if you could let us pick the classes that we attend instead of you doing that for us for many reasons.

1). The students would pay more attention in class and would most likely…
a) not get in trouble as much
b) get better grades
c) all make honor roll
2). They would have a much better time at school.
3). They would make it easier for the teachers to do what they have to do.
4). The teachers would be much happier and the students would listen.

If I could change a school rule I would like to change the hot lunch program, and have more time to get our books in-between classes. It is not that I don’t like the hot lunch program, I do, but I think students would like to maybe choose a fast food place such as taco bell, subway, or even McDonalds. You could choose what you wanted in the morning then pay for it during lunch before you get your food. This way I think that students would be happy. I also think that it would be better for students in the middle school to have a longer time to get their books and things, and or some more time to use the restroom.

I realize that the current system has been years in the making, but even the greatest of systems can afford some change. I propose that an early-childhood foreign language program be put into place. Research shows that young children are more capable of learning a new language than those who have passed into Middle School. Not only would they be more able to succeed in life, but they would easily pass through High School language and increase their chances of an Ivy League education. It would take a bit of effort, yes, but are no the rewards more than capable of compensating?

If I had a chance to change something in school, I would make it so you could choose what classes that you would want to take, instead of all of them. This could be beneficial to the students who have a harder time with certain classes, so that they don’t get bad grades. If we got to choose our classes we could choose the classes that we do best at so that we can focus better and get better grades and enjoy the class without struggling. I would suggest that we try it for one quarter, give each student a list of classes and allow them to choose. After the quarter we would see the results in their grades and on their faces. However, Religion is a class that everyone should take so that we can learn about God and all the things that he has done and continues to do for us, so that we can teach others about Him.

I think what I would want to change in our school is to have a better opportunity in music. I would like it if you could learn how to play the guitar or the piano and electric guitar or electric keyboard or the drums. Not just learning some of them and if you didn’t want to be in band you could learn the instrument in band but in a class also. Also, if the lockers were separated so you wouldn’t get smashed into each other and maybe even lockers bigger for you books and all your stuff. Take the classes you only wanted to take so it would be fun and I bet kids wouldn’t get in trouble as much.

I think that we should be able to pick the classes they want because first of all the teachers would be happier because all of the students would be happier because they wouldnt be bored and get better grades. Also they would enjoy school and they would behave better. And proably every kid would make the honor roll. Also another rule I would like to change is that you could wear flip flops. Especially in the spring and summer. Then every kid woould come to school and enjoy it.

Dear principal,

I would like to change a few things a school. First I would like to run school more like a business. Everyone should get laptops and that is where they have all their text books. Also I think that Students should get vacation time. I think that it should be based on their grade level. First graders get 1 week off, second graders get 2 weeks off, third graders 3 weeks off and so on and so fourth. But there is one rule with vacation time, you can’t take off more than a week at a time and you still get homework. We would have all of our books and interactive software on the laptop. There would be virtual classrooms but there still are human teachers! The teachers are there to guide you and tell you what programs to use. Gym class would be hard to do on a laptop so… you would get a schedule at the beginning of the year and there would be multiple sports. Then you would choose your sport, and you would get it every day. Then at the last 4 months of the school year you would make a team of the sport you choose and play other teams in the state! I think tat this new form of gym would be very fun. I also think that the laptops would make backpacks lighter ( no more hardcover books!) and vacation would give kids time to be kids.

If I had a chance to change something in school, I would allow the school to be open I the afternoon and have lunch at a restaurant and have only 3 hours of school.
We would also be allowed to have a snowball fights and go sledding and instead of boring old music we would have a party.
And then we would have religion and then language arts and then at the end of the day a long rescues.
Then we would have tutoring at 5:00 and lunch at 8.
I hope that this would happen and we would be happy.

More lunch time so we can not rush. I think we should have a third choice a gym privilege so we can do gym too. The gum is off my list so there is one more problem extra 1 class on Friday we should have computers on that day all of us boys and girls. So i am going to lay down the law and put my foot down to get these rules straight. I hope that my rules will help make the school a better place. The rules should be changed so we the kids could have the rights we deserve!

If I would change a rule at school it would make recess longer. Instead of about 15 minutes, it would be an hour. Plus, it would not start until you pick teams and in football kickoff. I think it could happen because I would make the classes a little bit shorter. I also think it could work because the school kids need more exercise and we need the fresh air to help make us sit/be tired out. The kids will be happier and the teachers will be happier because they will listen nice. So please make this a rule because it will please the kids a First Immanuel.

The change I would make is that we would get to pick are own classes and teacher to go with the class. (They need to teach it though so you can’t have Mrs. Rank teach math.) Also you can’t have a class more than twice and you can’t choose when you have reuses or how many times. I know most boys would like just reuses and gym but, if we don’t have other classes, we wouldn’t know what 5 x 5 is or who made E=MC2 and we wouldn’t know where Canada is. These are important things we need to know, without it we would grow up not smart and flunk out of our jobs and be jobless which wouldn’t be good!

Dear First Immauel,

I would like to change a few things.

1.School would start at 8:30am.
2.At recess there would be batting cages and a mini go cart track.
3.I would also make classes shorter but we would still get some learning time in.
4.I would make recess 1 hour and 15 minutes.
5. In order to raise money for batting cages and go cart tracks I would have a Krispy Creme doughnut sale.
6.In winter for gym we would leave for sort of a fieldtrip and go snowmobliling.
7.For lunch we would have McDonalds, Burger King, and Arbys but for the healthy stuff we would have a salad bar, fruits and veggies.

If I could make a change I would let students pick which classes they would want to be in. For Example If a srudent did not want to be in a music class they would not have to. Another thing that I would change is that we could were sandles with no socks! Something else I would change is that the middle school get two recesses and gets to have Valetine's party's. I also think that we should get at least 7 minutes passing through the hall.86 Those are a few of the things that I would change at my school!

Dear Teachers,

Below I will list some of the things I would want to change about School that I don't like.
1.I would like the kids to choose classes and not have different classes like music and computers each day.
2.Another thing I would like to change about school is our recess time. I would like it if we had 1 and a half hours for lunch and recess and we could go out as soon as we finish our food.
3.I would like it if the teachers gave enough time every day to actually finish homework and not have to bring it home. If people are not behaving and working hard deserve to bring homework home, but people who work hard don't deserve to have to bring homework home.
4. I would like to have better food for lunch, more time to go to my locker, and you could choose what classes you want.

If I were able to change something about school I would make it so that you could pick which classes you wanted to go to. So you would like every that you took. Recess would be a whole lot longer so we could get a whole lot of fresh air. I would expel people a lot quicker. We could choose our own art projects. Playing a musical instrument would count as music class. I would remove the wellness plan and have Pizza Hut for every lunch and no milk only soda. For homework don’t you think that school is boring enough?, so NO homework!!

Dear teachers,
Here is a list of things I think our school should change to make it better.
1. I think that we should be able to eat lunch outside on the nice days.
2. I think that at the beginning of the year we should be able to choose one of our classes. Like music, computers, drama, or business (like a junior achievement class but all year round.)
3. I also think that students should be able to go where ever they want during recess instead of having to go to either study hall or outside.
4. I also think that students should be able to drink soda in class.
These are some things that our school should change.
Sincerely,
Abby

Dear staff of First Immanuel,

To make the school a better place I think somehow we need to raise money so that the elementary and middle school wings have AIR CONNDITIONING!!!!!!! I mean really, during the warm months we go out side, get all hot, come inside, and sit for almost 2 hours! It’s awful! Face it, we need it bad! One more thing. If students are sick for more than 3 days they should not have to make up the home work. Cause some people are sick for more than a week at some times, (like I have in the past) and that way to much homework! Well that is all I have to say at the moment!

Dear Principle,

I would like to change something about school. I think that every week except on Friday every 6-8 grade kid would get a pass for one class and they could go where ever they wanted to but they had be back by the next hour. They could leave the school by the permission of a parent. They could not skip that hour everytime they could only skip it every 2 weeks. Whatever they did in that class they would get an A+ on even a test. If kids disobey the rules they will not get the chance to have this every week.

If I would change something in the school I would make it so school went from 9:35 to 2:35. I would have gym, recess, and lunch for an hour long each. I would take the other two hours and take 20 minutes each for all the other classes. I would make sure all the kids including me will behave and make all the teachers happy. Everybody will be happy.

i think kids should not have homework because we already have like 7 hours of school already so whats the point? even my dad agrees that we already have to do enough work at school. i agree it teaches kids responsibility, but you should think of some other way to do it in the 7 hours we have of school. the point of geting out of school at the end of the day is so we can have a break. not to do more work but to relax. it wastes our time. it dose teach us responsibility but we already learn that just by living our normal lives. we dont need extra work.

We should pick our classes . We could still have them all but we could pick our schedules out. We can pick our seats. We would not have to do art or music we could do them for extra credit. Most of us are not going to be Musicians or artists. And we don’t need those skills to be a good sitosin. The students should test the teachers to see how good they are at teaching. They would have report cards their subjects would be nice, good at teaching, fun, fair and hands on. They would be graded on a scale of 1 to 10.

If I could make changes to our school I would change the following.
1. I would change the policy of demerits to receiving a warning first.
2. I would make recess an hour long.
3. Homework would be limited to only 5 questions.
4. I would make lunch longer and have restaurants deliver lunch to school.
5. We would be able to choose our classes.
6. We would make gym more interesting by playing sports by the real rules.
7. School would start at 9:00 am and end at 2:00 pm.
8. We would be able to drink gatorade and juice during school.
9. More snack times.
10. Each day we would have a fun activity hour.
11. Longer study hall to get homework done so we don't have to take it home.
I think that all these things are good because we would still be doing homework, but we're still doing fun activities and still learning. The end.

I would like to change the rule about having the cell phone turned off during school. It would be easier to go about know that no one can go in you locker to get you cell phone if it starts to ring. If you have an emergency call, you could use your cell phone. What if the school had a power outage? You would then have to use a person’s cell phone. What if a person threatened someone, you did not have your cell phone, the teachers didn’t have their cell phones with them, and the power was out? What if a teacher was hurt and you had to turn on your cell phone? It might be two late to save the teacher then. That is why you need to have cell phones on at school.

Dear Principal,
I would change the demerit system. I would make it so the demerits would restart every quarter, and not stay there all year, because in the bible it tell us not to keep track of others wrongs not keep track of them. I would like to change the Lunch schedule make it longer because sometimes I have a big Lunch and I would like to finish it, and not use up recess time. I’d like to make recess longer so we won’t be so Hyper during classes, and put it before lunch so we would be Hungry and not waste food.

Deer, Principal.

I want you to let us choose our classes and have no more tests. I want us to have only 2 subjects of homework a day. Can we have this happen. We could make this happen by the teachers discussing the homework arrangements so we can have less homework. Can we also have more Gym classes. Like on Fridays we could split art and Gym. Or we could have every other week Gym and Art for Boys and Girls. Or have Bo or have both for one half of quarter and alternate. Thanks Mr. Principal please do these ideas for the school.

Dear whoever is in charge,

i think it is time for change. Starting tomorrow the 7th grade girls will have lunch and recess all day. You will also give them $100 every time they walk in the door. we expect a throne awaiting us instead of our usual desks and all other students must wait on us until we tell them to stop. we also need some dangerous chemicals in the science lab so we can blow up the school and be paid to have fun during our year round summer.

Thankyou for your cooperation!!!!!!
