Hey future 6th graders!! Here is some advice that I can give you for next year(Abby Rennicke, listen to what your cousin has to say):

1. Listen to the teacher. If you listen, you get the stuff you need for homework.

2. Get homework done.

3. Don't argue with the teacher. Just asume their right, you'll be happy.

4. Study for quizzes & tests.

5. Don't talk in class, you'll be glad you listen to that one(Ms. Miller sometimes hands out candy to the kids who don't talk:)).

6. Hang out with the right people. If you do, nothing can go wrong.

7. Participate in class. If you do, you might get extra credit.

8. Don't be afraid to ask a teacher for help, after all, that's what their there for.

9. Organize your locker. If you do, then you can just grab your stuff, and go so that you're not late for the next class.

10. Be yourself, have a positive attitude, and have fun!!

GOOD LUCK IN MIDDLE SCHOOL FUTURE 6TH GRADERS!!!!!!!!!

Dear soon to be 6th graders,

Here are some tips for 6th grade...

1. STAY ORGANIZED!!!!!!! Try to keep your lockers clean and know where EVERYTHING is. Twice I have found three month old apples in my locker. Talk about GROSS!
2. Even though the list says to have a white binder for math and a red binder for science... my advice is to get a big binder(soft side with extra pockets) and put paper in there for each class(besides art, music, and computers) because it is easier taking one binder home instead of 3 notebooks. Also it can keep papers to take home and your assignment notebook.
3. Always get your assignment notebook signed. You get homework passes for it but Mrs. Walker doesn't accept them. Also don't get demerits or homework stamps because at the end of the quarter you get a homework pass and a pizza party.
4. Be prepared for class. You can get demerits for not being prepared. Also, it helps not having to ask for paper and pencils during class. Not everybody will let you use all their paper!
5. Try to be on time for your classes! Some teachers like Miss Kohn don't always start right away but Mrs. Rank and Mrs. Walker normally start on time. If you're early you can have time to chat with your friends.
6. DO NOT SHARE SNACKS! If you get caught the teacher can ban snacks and your whole class will hate you!
7. Do NOT forget to study! If you do you will not get good grades and you will waste time in class studying for the test you have next hour and you'll get your homework and be TOTALLY confused!
8. Pay attention in class!!! If you goof off you will get your homework and have to ask a friend what to do and the teacher will yell at you for talking.
9. Get your art projects done! If you fall behind you will just get farther and farther behind and it'll be hard to catch up. However, if you are ahead you may have a free art class to do whatever because you are way ahead.
10. DO NOT GOSSIP OR BE MEAN TO OTHERS!!! When you are mean to your friends (or not friends) the situation just gets worse and it is not fun!

That's what I have to say! Remember just to have fun and you'll survive the torture of sixth grade! Hope you take my advice! Have fun!

also, get your living stones finished and DO NOT SIT ON THE WINDOW SILL! Once somebody broke the glass and somebody else threw a pencil through the window! Stay off of tables and the bookshelf too. If Miss Miller catches you... well lets just say hope you like Webster! Just kidding! (but seriously stay off!) Have fun is 6th grade! See you in the halls! Bye!

For any 5th graders that are coming to 6th grade next year it may seem scary at first but it isint so bad then in 6th grade you have lockers the lockers are so small you have to keep them so orginized or you wont beable to shut it and you only have three minits to go to each class so you have to hurry and you have damarits so you have to be careful and you only get 5 damarits a year or it is a detention so it is not bad in middle school.

To almost 6th graders.

Always remember to bring EVERYTHING to class becouse in the 2nd semester you will not be able to go back to your locker but remember it anyways. DO NOT forget to do any homework and always be pre-pared includes pencil, binder text book ( if needed for subject )
and HOMEWORK. Do not be a tatle tale. You have dimarets for every bad thing you do, but otherwise 6th grade is fun teachers are fun, they will help you, it will go by fast so just enjoy and make the best of it!!

My first and most important reason is to keep your locker in shape put stuff were it belongs or you loose a lot of assignments and it will bight you in the butt later. Next make sure you fill out your assignment note book as the day goes along so your ready to get your notebook signed at the end of the day and remember the homework. Know the teachers your going to have in class so it can be easier. Have your books with you at all times or you could get a demarit from some teachers. DO NOT dissrupt class (this fallows under know your teachers and knowing the mood there in).Double check to see if you have all your items whendone at home with home work.REMEMBER the school dress code. remember the demarit record as in 3 call home 5 detention. don't take peoples stuff then hide it you will get busted. Choose right friends

To all upcoming 6th graders (you guys should really read these) here are some tips :)

1) Do your homework before your class starts. If you don’t and its for a class after recess, stay in for STUDY HALL!!!
2) Always pay attention! Why? It can help you later in life.
3) Always come prepared, with a pencil, a textbook, notebook paper, your notes, and your binder.
4) Just in case, always have a homework pass.
5) Always get your assignment notebook filled out.
6) Get a good night sleep! You don’t want to stay up till 1 a.m. playing video games, trust me!
7) Remember the 5 P’s. Although right now I’m brain dead.
8) Always eat a filling and healthy breakfast.
9) Trust in God to get you through the day.
10) Study for all tests, exams, and quizzes.

Good luck future 6th grade!

P.S. Keep a clean locker, and post your daily schedule, until you get into a habit of going to your hourly classes.

Anonymous said...

My advice…
1. Know your schedule not your friends. Especially on the first day.
2. Turn in your homework. If you write in your assignment notebook, remembering and turning in your homework should be no problem. There will be a reward!
3. Stay organized. Have a take-home/homework folder to keep your homework so you don’t lose it. Copies cost $0.25!
4. Get wooden locker shelves. Many people I know have had their metal shelves collapse.
5. Be prepared. Teachers won’t allow you to go to your locker for any supplies.
6. Don’t goof around! Disturbing the class can cost you extra homework for you and your friends.
7. Don’t be late. You could miss and important announcement or even worse… get a demerit.
8. Get your assignment notebook signed! It’s a great way to get a homework pass.
9. Study!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. Earn the trust of the teachers and you might get to do special things.

Corey’s Top Ten List
1. Keep you locker CLEAN this is very IMPORTANT. (In other words don’t let your locker look like mine.)
2. Fill out your assignment notebook this is very important, Plus if you fill it out and get it signed you get points for your homework pass.
3. Only use your homework passes if you FORGET to do it so you don’t get a late homework stamp, not just so you don’t have to do an assignment.
4.Always be prepared keeping a binder with everything you need (Paper, a pencil case, Your assignment notebook, ect.) in is a great idea I would suggest getting a binder for this.
5. Always study for tests in grades 1-5 it isn’t nearly as important because you don’t learn as much in one unit, If you don’t study the grade will be worse then you want it to be.
6. Doing your blogs and foreign language homework on Tuesday or Wednesday is a good idea just incase your busy on the weekend or on Thursday if you get a lot of homework. Having those done right away will you make feel better.
7. When teachers give you a period of 2 or more days to work on a bigger assignment work on it a little each day.
8. Do your book reports and your Art history/quarter art projects RIGHT AWAY if you save these all for the weekend before you will regret it so much as it is very stressful to have all of that to do.
9.On days that you have sport games or practices late at night do your home work right away or you will end up staying an hour past the time you usually go to bed and be very tired the next day at school.
10. Always eat breakfast and/or bring a snack for 4th hour, Its very hard to concentrate for 50minutes with a empty stomach & on days when it is 60 degrees or hotter bring a water bottle! It annoys the teachers very much when your so hot that you need to get a drink every 15 minutes.
11. Always memorize your schedule right away!
12. Don’t talk while the teacher is talking!!! This is the most important rule in middle school in my opinion. Don’t complain to teachers about a lot of homework if you somebody who talks in class a lot you’re the whole reason people don’t have time to do there homework in school.
13. Don’t complain about anything
14. Go to study hall on days when you are busy
15. Don’t draw during class it make the teachers very angry and you won’t understand your assignment.
16.Don’t lose your homework teachers will charge you $ for a second copy of it.
17. Sorry my list is so long Miss Miller

Some advice for 6th grade:

1) Keep your locker organized (or you will lose everything…and you DON’T want that to happen!)
2) Behave or else you’ll get a demerit and after 3- Talk with parents… after 5- DETENTION.
3) Turn your assignments in on time or else you get a Missing Homework Stamp and if you’re parents don’t sign it, you also get a demerit.
4) Follow the dress code, or else you get in trouble or have to go home and change
5) Keep the chit-chat with your friends ‘till after school, lunch, or recess, because you only get like 3 minutes inbetween classes.
6) Make sure you have all the things you need for class, because the teachers get REALLY mad when you have to go back to your locker .
7) Study for EVERY test (even a little quiz)… it could really help you.
8) Always fill out your Assignment Notebook right when you get an assignment, so at the end of the day, you’re not trying to figure out what homework you have.
9) Always have the teacher AND your parents sign your Assignment Notebook… for every signing, you get a sticker for a FREE HOMEWORK PASS! (but Mrs. Rank doesn’t take them… so always get your art homework done!
10) And last… Have a great first year of Middle School! ;-)

P.S.- Simone and Squeaky... Hope you have a great 6th grade year :-)

My List:

Ok first of all I think going with out and advice is the best thing because everyone has there own perspective and doing your own thing is what I think middle school is all about. But if I had to I would say…

1. never get to close any of your friends because it will probably all change in high school
2. don’t be a teacher’s pet
3. never forget to do your homework cause it will always turn out bad in the end
4. always keep your locker clean
5. be very quick in the hallways while getting your stuff
6. never trust anyone to keep your secrets
7. always be prepared for class
8. never loan anything to anybody unless you know they will give it back
9. don’t let people bully you
10. Don’t let anyone make fun of you, your clothing, looks, etc.
11. NEVER GIVE UP there is always times when you are going to get frustrated at someone and you feel like you want you shriek your brains out at them or just plain walk out of school but don’t, either talk to someone about it or talk to yourself, shrieking your brains out will either get you in trouble or make the situation even worse which believe me is bad so listen closely and do not SHRIEK YOUR BRAINS OUT!!!

Top ten list (this is gold)

1. Get an accordion folder

2. Don’t decorate your locker door to much or when people bang on your locker, stuff will fall off your door.

3. When going into sixth grade make SURE you have a good and trusty best friend.

4. Do your homework right away after you get home.

5. NEVER get late homework stamps or you won't get to go to a special lunch.

6. ALWAYS keep your locker clean, it's a lot easier!

7.No matter what, no quiz/test will ever prepare you for Miss Kohn's math test!

8.You will have lots of notes in science and math(if you have Miss Kohn for math) so get BIG binders/notebooks.

9.Eat snack! No matter what! You'll get super hungry, even if the lunchtime change is only thirty minutes.

10.In gym, get down to the lockers right away! And don't get too caught up in the game, it starts fights plus after a while you'll get locker privileges taken away.

I hope I could help.
