Acrostic Poets

As you may well know, acrostic poems are poems which use the letters of a word, to build the words of a complete poem. Here is an example of an acrostic poem of Miss Miller:

Marvelously

Intrigued by the

Sayings of

Sixth grade children

Meanwhile

Intensely busy

Losing sleep while

Looking for

Extraordinary things

Revealed by God!

Your task this week is to write two acrostic poems. One needs to be your name and the second can be any word you would like (snowboarding, horses, basketball, racecar, etc..) Be creative with your word selection and make each word count. (Note: this blog does not need to be 100 words).

You as a Movie Character

Think of your favorite movie characters of all time and then pick one and tell why you would like to be that character. Did they embark on a special adventure, were they gifted with some amazing talent, did they get to go somewhere you have always dreamed of? The character you select must be from an appropriate movie. Your movie character could be animated or realistic.

Here are some examples: Indiana Jones, Simba, Gaston, Mulan, Spiderman, Benjamin Franklin Gates, Lina (from City of Ember), or Gabriela (from High School Musical).

Summer Camp

Everywhere I go, I see flyers advertising for summer camps. With fondness, I remember my own weeks spent at summer camps like LuWiSoMo, Lutherhaven, and Camp Creativity. Describe, in great detail, your dream summer camp experience? Where would you go and what would you do? Would you attend a Christian camp, a sports' themed camp, space camp, horse camp, band camp, etc.....
